PEP Talk : Multilingualism

Did you know that there are more people in the world are multilingual than monolingual? In fact, in Europe, over 50% of the population speaks more than one language.
In this talk we will focus on how children acquire language, specifically multiple languages, and the advantages and challenges of multilingualism. We will share tips on how to support multilingualism in your family, as well as touch on how it affects learning problems and where to find help. As always, we’ll reserve time for questions and exchanging information.

About the Speaker
Stephanie Baumgarten-Kustner studied at the University of Oregon, London University and University of Leiden where she obtained her doctorandus in Clinical Psychology. She has worked with children/adolescents in clinical day-treatment as well as out-patient both in the USA and here in the Netherlands. In addition, she has worked in the Dutch special educational system and international education here in the Netherlands.
Alongside her clinical work, she also lectures undergraduate and graduate psychology students – with a focus on developmental psychology and psychopathology — as well as mentoring psychology interns and thesis supervision. Recently she has started a private practice Baumgarten Child Psychology and More incorporating all of her experience in one place.
